What changes are you making to Onyx® status?
Starting in August 2022, collectors can reach Onyx easier.
Collectors will only need to earn 5,000 Miles within one calendar year to qualify for Onyx status.
When will these updates come into effect?
The AIR MILES Onyx collector status qualification requirement changes will come into effect in August 2022. This means:
You will continue to have your tier benefit for the current calendar year until the end of the following year. For example, if you earned 5,000 Miles in 2022, you will achieve AIR MILES Onyx® status for 2023 and have access to its benefits until December 31, 2023.
I just achieved Onyx status. What benefits does that come with?
Onyx collector status is our top-tier collector status, with premium perks like the ability to book select flights using fewer Miles than you would with Gold, priority customer service, access to our personal shopper service, and so much more.

How can I keep Onyx status?
You will need to earn 5,000 Miles within one calendar year to maintain your AIR MILES Onyx status for the following year. That’s 1,000 fewer Miles than required previously.
If you’re not on track to meet the 5,000 Miles required to maintain Onyx status, we’re happy to provide tips and suggestions to help you get more Miles, faster.
What about AIR MILES® credit card holders?
Collectors with an eligible AIR MILES credit card have access to the collector status benefits associated with the credit card as long as they remain card holders. Learn more.
Why are you making these changes to the AIR MILES Onyx status benefits?
AIR MILES regularly reviews the Onyx status benefits to ensure we are providing our collectors with the best value, and to remain competitive in the market. With this change, you will continue to get more value with up to 10% fewer Miles on merchandise, select flight discounts and more.
Plus, we are looking at ways to make the Onyx benefits even more rewarding. Keep your eye out for more exciting changes ahead!
How do I qualify for Onyx status?
Collectors can qualify for Onyx status by getting 5,000 or more Miles within one calendar year.
Once passing that mark, your Onyx benefits will take effect the following week, will last throughout the next year, and will continue until the end of December of the following year if you fail to re-qualify.
First-time Onyx Collectors will receive new Cards in the mail 3 to 4 weeks after qualifying.
If you fail to re-qualify for Onyx, your new Card will continue to work but you will no longer have access to the benefits.
The Personal Shopper Service is a team committed to finding Rewards not available through the Dream Rewards catalogue. It’s a service available at no extra cost for Onyx Collectors.

What happens if I don't have enough Miles for my requested Personal Shopper Reward?
The amount of Dream Miles needed depends on the Reward. Onyx Collectors can purchase up to 10,000 Miles at a time, in 100 Mile increments, if they don’t have the required amount.
Once you confirm the item you want and you are ready to order, Miles will be taken out of your Dream Account. You will then receive an email confirmation– at this point the order is final. Refunds, returns, exchanges or cancellations are not allowed. If there is a cancellation of an event, any refund or exchange is up to the event’s artist/promoter/venue. When using the Personal Shopper Service, do I need to know exactly what I want to get with Dream Miles?
The Onyx Personal Shopper Service Team is here to help –whether you know exactly what you want to order or not. Providing details about your desired Reward is great, otherwise our team will help to clarify the specifics such as model number, brand, colour, size, etc.
If the Personal Shopper Service Team cannot find the exact Reward you’re looking for, we’ll work to provide alternatives whenever possible.
What is the delivery time for Rewards ordered through the Personal Shopper Service?
Delivery will vary based on the nature of the request. We will advise you of the delivery timelines for your requested Reward along with your quote. In most cases, Rewards, including event tickets, will be received within 4 weeks.
Shipping will be included in the number of Miles quoted to you. Rewards can only be shipped within Canada. Read the full Personal Shopper Service Terms and Conditions for more details.
When does the Personal Shopper Service withdraw the Miles from my Dream Account?
Once we’ve received your approval to proceed with the quote, our Personal Shopper Service will take Miles from your DreamAccount and place the order for the requested Reward.
You’ll then receive a confirmation email. When the item has shipped, another email confirming the shipping details and name of the courier will be sent.

I’m not currently AIR MILES Gold or Onyx but I’m getting close to qualifying. If I get the required Miles, will I still qualify for Gold or Onyx?
Absolutely! You’ll still qualify for AIR MILES Gold status if you get 500 Miles by December 31 of this year, and you’ll qualify for Onyx status if you get 5,000 Miles by December 31 of this year. In either case, your benefits will begin the week after you qualify and will last until December 31 of the following year.
I can’t find the AIR MILES Gold/Onyx Collector Status Miles tracker on your website. How can I find out if I’m close to achieving Gold/Onyx?
The AIR MILES Gold/Onyx Collector Status Miles tracker on our site has recently become unavailable as we continue to work towards building a better, more inclusive experience for all Canadians. Rest assured that the qualification to reach Gold and Onyx status remains the same.
While our tracker is unavailable, here’s how to view how many Eligible Miles you’ve collected so far this year:
• Log in to airmiles.ca
• Select “Your profile”
• View your Transaction History.
